Secrets Revealed

  1. During his transfer, Max drives a UAZ Patriot SUV. Made by the same company that once built trucks for the Red Army, the Patriot is a rugged off-road vehicle made for Russia’s tough terrain. It’s a monster of a vehicle, weighing over 4,600 pounds, but still reaches a maximum speed of 93 miles per hour. And as you know, all my books involve speed…
  • Max fires a MP-443 Grach 9mm pistol, which is the standard personal weapon for Russia’s elite services. It’s a compact pistol, only 7.8 inches in length, semi-automatic with short-recoil. Max likes 18-round capacity magazines, and carries an extra mag or two at all times.
  • Why is the book called 18 Minutes? I wanted a title that would deliver the urgency of a time-sensitive operation. I thought about distances, like Mile 22, the 2018 spy thriller movie with Mark Wahlberg and John Malkovich. But it sounded like a rip-off, plus Russians don’t use miles, but kilometers. Minutes, on the other hand, are universal. Thus, 18 Minutes, which sounds like a short time, but as you will discover, plenty can happen
