You might think that ISIS was destroyed in Syria and Iraq, and you might be right. The “caliphate” fell, but ISIS and its offshoots remain a growing and evolving threat in other parts of the world, especially in Africa’s Sahel region that includes Mali, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan and the Central African Republic. 6,000 African fighters joined ISIS in the Middle East, and a large number of them have returned home, bringing with them extremist ideas and jihad.
