How long would you be able to survive in a fuel tank, if your life depended on it?
Well if the tank was clean, without any food or water than 3-4 days. If not cleaned and no way to purify the air than maybe 1 day at the most. Things to consider access to fresh air by hole or tube. This would help. Now if trying to escape a country, these things would have to be taken into account. I have been in a fuel tank for 6 hours with fuel still in there welding and without a source of fresh air, the best laid plans would not work for any length of time.
I have never been in any life threatening situation so it would be very difficult for me to judge people who are in this situation. More power to them!
